Tarkan

A piece i made for a contest held by the foundation of fantasy and science fiction, in Turkey. It's themed after Sezgin Burak's old comic series "Tarkan".

I wanted to portray Tarkan and his companion, Wolf (that's its name ) in a good old retro way with this composition and pallette. He's kind of a Hunnic "Conan" but more of a hero than a rogue. There's this a-must-have beauty in it as well. I just like this stuff

There are several movies shot back in 70's after comics. This piece was inspired from the story "Viking Blood". The octopus on rocks is a little parody of the giant octopus-monster in the movie (could be the Kraken? i don't know.)

A friend told me northern skies don't have such clouds. I don't know if there are such mossy rocks or octopuses there either. I'm also aware that longboats should suck, i did no search at all. The movie was shot here in southern coast of Turkey so I'd better recall what i watched. (and tbh i don't care much )

TL;DR : Hope you enjoy viewing it as much as i had in painting it.
